Mt. Rinjani Summit & Lake Trek Overview
Our Mt. Rinjani Summit & Lake Trek is the most demanding program we offer, designed for adventurous travelers who want to experience the very best of Gunung Rinjani. This 3-day, 2-night journey combines the thrill of reaching the summit with the beauty of the crater rim, followed by a descent to the stunning Danau Segara Anak and its natural hot springs.
Your adventure begins in Senaru Village, located in North Lombok, where you will spend your first night at our comfortable homestay. Dinner will be provided, and in your free time, you may explore nearby waterfalls or spot the local monkeys that inhabit the area.
The next morning starts with breakfast and coffee before a scenic one-hour drive to Sembalun. The journey itself is part of the experience, passing through traditional villages and offering a glimpse into local life on Lombok Island.
The trek officially begins from Sembalun. Midway through the ascent, you will enjoy a freshly prepared lunch by our porter team. Afterward, the hike continues up to the crater rim, where you will arrive in the afternoon and spend the evening enjoying dinner with breathtaking mountain views.
On the second day, the climb to the summit begins early. You will wake around 2:00 AM for a light breakfast before starting the ascent at approximately 2:30 AM. This is the most physically challenging part of the trek, typically taking around four hours to reach the top. Temperatures at the summit can be quite cold, so most trekkers spend a short time there before heading back down.
The descent to the crater rim takes about one and a half hours, where you will have a more substantial breakfast and rest. From there, the journey continues with a three-hour hike down to Lake Segara Anak. Upon arrival, you can relax by the lake, enjoy lunch, and soak in the nearby hot springs. Afterward, the trek continues up to the Senaru crater rim, where you will spend the second night. This location offers one of the most impressive panoramic views of the entire trek.
On the final day, after breakfast, you will descend through the lush tropical rainforest toward Senaru Village. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife, including monkeys and, if you are lucky, the rare black monkey of Lombok. The descent typically takes around five hours.
Upon arrival in Senaru, transportation will be arranged to take you back to your homestay, where you can refresh before continuing your journey to the port or airport. For those who wish to extend their stay, additional nights at the homestay can be arranged as part of other available packages.
